About Solitude River Trips

Because of our love and appreciation for the middle Fork and our desire to see its historical, environmental and biological uniqueness preserved, we adhere to conservation-oriented practices. Our guides will advise you as to these concerns, and explain how to minimize the impacts of your visit to the river canyon. Yet, that doesn't mean you'll lack for luxury. Our large supply raft runs ahead of our parties and carries the camp supplies and most duffel. Each night's camp will be waiting for you when you arrive after a day on the river. Besides great camp accommodations and fabulous food, the river canyon itself provides visitors with its own special entertainment. Birdwatchers will catch glimpses of a variety of avian species. And although most of the deer and elk spend their summer months in the higher mountain meadows, bighorn sheep are still regularly seen along the lower portions of the river, and an occasional black bear is spotted foraging along the bank. There's also several hotsprings to enjoy. Sheepeater, Sunflower Flat, Hood Ranch, Whity Cox's and Hospital Bar all provide guests with an opportunity to soak in hot, bubbling mineral waters. Each trip will find us stopping at one or more of them either for camp, or for a brief visit.
